Build 29. Plenum, Airbox, Fuel line

Next was to refit the plenum to the engine which we had already taken off pre install. Whilst this was a fairly simple task, access to the 3 lower bolts is tight and you will need to use some socket extensions and angles to tighten them up. I also found that I needed to re cable tie the heater hose underneath the radiator hose as it would not fit with that in the way. You only need a 6mm hex key for this stage

Once the plenum is in place, it is now time to fit the airbox, once again no instructions for this in the manual, but it is quite trivial. The hardest part was attaching the rubber seal to the intake. I used a heat gun to make it a little more malleable and then some plastic shims to open up up the seal, you have to be careful as the airbox feels quite fragile and is only plastic. Attach this seal before trying to attach the airbox to the car. Once you have done this, attach the intake pipe (it is simply pushed inside), and orient it to the correct direction to the plenum (it is slightly tapered to be longer on the bottom)

I found that everything you need for this part is in the bag that was in the air box box. first you need to install the bobbins underneath the airbox, then attach the airbox to the bobbins. I also used 3 spare 5mm washers I had knocking about to help secure this down. Once this is in place, add the filter itself, and then attach the top part to the plenum, before securing it down with the 6 bolts (I only tightened these hand tight as it is only gripping fragile plastic).

The fuel line simply clips on here and is very easily removed but pressing the little tabs if you need to remove it. If you decide to remove this at any point later on in the build, be careful if you have primed the lines as you will spray a bit of fuel about and it will likely make your garage smell for a while!
